Alexander Egorov, a nuclear/chemical engineer by training, joined the Edlow International team in September 1998 as General Manager of Edlow East-West, Inc., running its office in St.Petersburg, Russia. The company deals mainly with logistics for transportation of radioactive and fissile materials from/to Russia. It also has great interest and expertise in participating in such international projects on the territory of Russia as the decommissioning of nuclear submarines, radioactive waste management, production of dual-purpose casks (storage/transportation) for spent nuclear fuel and working with nuclear cities.
Upon graduation from St.Petersburg Technological University in 1989, Mr. Egorov started his work in the nuclear industry as an engineer in Moscow at "Sojuzatomtechenergo," Ministry of Atomic Energy of the USSR, dealing with development and installation of new technologies at nuclear power stations. He was in charge of the installation and test of hydrazine water-chemical regime of the power circuit of Rovenskaya BWR, worked on the water purification systems of the power and secondary circuits at several Ukrainian power stations as well as on decontamination processes. In 1990, Mr. Egorov became a junior scientific researcher in St.Petersburg at Khlopin Radium Institute, Ministry of Atomic Energy and Industry of the USSR and, then, assistant manager at the Scientific Industrial Company "ROSA."
Mr. Egorov became a leading engineer in 1992 at the State Investing and Innovation enterprise of the Ministry on Atomic Energy of the Russian Federation, called "Interindustrial Coordination Center of Isotopic Production "Nuclide" or ICC "Nuclide". He was responsible for scientific and technical coordination for environmentally safe, scientifically sound and competetive technologies, production of light mass stable isotopes, and for national economic programs for the production of isotopic materials.
From January, 1995 to January, 1998 Mr. Egorov went to the reprocessing facility of the Nuclear Research Center at Cadarache, France. His scientific subject was the catalytic activity of different copper compounds during subcritical wet oxidation of acetic acid and tributylphosphate (TBP). The objective of this work was to find the maximum of degradation of organic matter under the least severe conditions. Returning to ICC "Nuclide" in St.Petersburg as project manager, he was in charge of managing several ecological projects, i.e., organization of an enterprise dealing with spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste management in North-West and Far East of Russia and an International Ecological Project of LEPSE floating technical base defueling.
With the dramatic changes in Russia toward a free market economy, Mr. Egorov has taken every opportunity to hone his modern business skills. He participated in 1992 in the management course "Strategy and tactics of free enterprise" at St.Petersburgs scientific and technical society "Knowledge." He traveled to the United States in 1993 for a four month training course on "Transfer of Technologies" at Los Alamos Technical Associates, Inc., in Albuquerque, NM. He enrolled in 1993 in the correspondence course "Master of Business Administration" at the Academy of National Economy, Moscow. In addition to his native Russian, Mr. Egorov speaks fluent English and French.
